The opportunity: Head of Operations, HIFL and Head of Global Fund Services, UCITS – Permanent contract

What you will do:



Based in Luxembourg, the Head of Ops, HSBC Investment Funds Luxembourg (HIFL, the Lux Manco) and Head of Global Fund Services (GFS), UCITS role is a senior leadership role within Asset Management (AM) Operations. The role holder will be responsible for leading several elements of the AM Operational model:


  • As Head of Ops for HIFL, management of the day-to-day operational activities of the AM Lux Manco and support AM’s transformation into a market leading operating model.
  • As Head of GFS UCITs to lead / support a market leading fund service proposition which delivers values for clients / shareholders and supports the growth of the AM business as a Client centric business.
  • To act as delegate to the CEO, HIFL in relation to governance and executive responsibilities as and when required.


The role holder will report functionally to the Head of Global Funds Services and COO for HSBC Asset Management UK and legal entity wise to the CEO of HIFL.


In this role, you will:


  • Partner with the Head of GFS to drive the adoption of the global target operating model across both business areas and oversee strategic development and execution including opening branches in Ireland and UAE.
  • Own and be responsible for HIFL’s operational responsibilities. Ensure client centricity by focusing on client experience / impact / outcomes in all decision making and execution.
  • Simultaneously drive; a) implementing the operating model and organizational change transformation programmes; b) maintaining BAU and c) supporting new business growth.
  • Support the HIFL CEO to ensure HIFL (incl its branches) manage and oversee all regulatory requirements (inc local laws, substance and cross-border) and support the significant regulatory change agenda.
  • Ensure the operational governance framework across HIFL including its branches are effective and actions are closed in a timely manner and also ensure the implementation of the GFS model in a controlled manner with the appropriate governance controls.
  • Promote a one team culture striking the right balance between global and local responsibilities Act as a role model for and champion for DEI.



You should apply if you have:


  • Experienced commercial leadership (10 years’ experience in Investment Management and UCITS with strong experience in a senior role in a relevant function – Operations or Risk) with proven track record in developing and driving investor-led commercial growth and a business change agenda.
  • Cross-business knowledge and experience of large asset management operations inc technology development and infrastructure. Strong Investment Management operations knowledge including transfer agency, asset/fund administration, global custody and shareholder services operations, risk management, regulatory and financial crime compliance.
  • Experience of managing and working as a part of a global team, where team members are based in multiple offices (inc offshore).
  • Technical knowledge of alternative asset classes (inc private equity, real estate, hedge funds, infrastructure debt and loans).
  • Comprehensive understanding of the Investment Management value chain and service pricing including understanding of investment manager/advisor and investor needs across institutional & wholesale and in different markets.
  • Excellent ability to interact and influence at senior levels with key stakeholders including; decision makers, industry influencers, fund boards, senior executives and regulatory bodies at a senior level.
  • Fluency in English, both written and oral.
