Role description

An AI/ML Researcher at TCS is responsible for advancing the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) through the design, development, and implementation of innovative algorithms and models. The role typically involves:

Responsibilities:

Research and Development:

• Conduct cutting-edge research in AI and ML to advance state-of-the-art models and algorithms.
• Explore and experiment with new machine learning techniques such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, and unsupervised learning.
• Develop novel AI solutions for complex problems across various industries, including healthcare, finance, robotics, and autonomous systems.

Algorithm Design:

• Design and implement novel algorithms for data analysis, predictive modeling, pattern recognition, and natural language processing.
• Improve the efficiency and scalability of existing models and algorithms.

Data Analysis:

• Collect, clean, and analyze large datasets to extract meaningful insights for training models.
• Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and key features that drive decision-making.

Model Training & Evaluation:

• Train machine learning models on large datasets and optimize them for accuracy and performance.
• Conduct thorough evaluation and testing of models using appropriate metrics to ensure generalizability and robustness.

Collaboration:

• Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, product managers, and domain experts, to deploy AI/ML models into real-world applications.
• Collaborate with other researchers and academic institutions to stay at the forefront of AI/ML trends and contribute to the academic community.

Publications & Presentations:

• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at industry conferences.
• Communicate complex research results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements:

Educational Qualifications:

• A Ph.D. or master’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field with a strong focus on AI/ML.

Technical Skills:

• Expertise in machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit-learn).
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or Java.
• Strong knowledge of mathematical concepts, including linear algebra, probability, statistics, and optimization techniques.
• Contributions to AI/ML open-source projects or publications in top-tier journals or conferences.
• Experience in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for model deployment.
• Familiarity with large-scale distributed systems and data processing frameworks (e.g., Hadoop, Spark)

Experience:

• Strong research background, deep technical expertise in AI and ML, and a passion for solving real-world problems with advanced technologies
• Experience with deep learning, natural language processing (NLP), computer vision, or reinforcement learning.
• Practical experience in designing and deploying ML models at scale.

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for innovation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex concepts clearly.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
