THE ROLE


We are looking for an Android Engineer to join our dynamic team, helping us enhance and deepen our customers' biking and riding experiences. This is an incredible opportunity to join a high-growth team, work across multiple agile product teams (including web, service, and product marketing), and make a significant impact on riders' experiences worldwide.


This role is based in Amsterdam (NL) and surroundings or Koblenz (GER) and surroundings.


YOUR JOB AS PART OF THE CANYON CREW


  • Collaborate: Work closely with Product Owners, UI/UX Designers, Backend Engineers, and fellow Android Engineers to deliver a high-quality Android product.
  • Tech Stack Proficiency: Be familiar with the following technologies and concepts:
  • Kotlin
  • Compose
  • Coroutines
  • Modularization
  • Android SDKs, frameworks, and development patterns
  • RESTful services
  • Development: Help build efficient, reusable mobile components and solutions.
  • Documentation: Ensure correct and comprehensive documentation of your work.
  • Code Review: Support and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality.
  • Data-Driven: Use data-based insights to iterate and improve features.
  • Best Practices: Identify areas of improvement and drive mobile best practices.
  • Testing: Support in testing your own components before handing them over to QA.
  • Mindset: Be a CHALLENGER, not just an executor. That's most important.


HOW YOU BECOME PART OF THE RACE


  • Experience: Proven experience in engineering and software development, with at least 3 years in the industry.
  • Education: Bachelor’s and/or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Release Management: Experience in release cycles, bug fixing, and maintenance, contributing to our "shift left" culture.
  • CI/CD: Familiarity with CI/CD processes, enhancing pipeline efficiency, security, and quality.
  • Agile: Proficiency in agile software development practices (estimation, velocity, story refinement with Product Owner, etc.).
  • Hardware Knowledge: Understanding of diverse hardware issues (tablet vs mobile vs smart interfaces).
  • Integration: Familiarity with API-related issues.
  • Pet Projects: Projects that demonstrate technical excellence and product sense.
  • Coding Skills: Solid engineering and coding skills, with an understanding of basic data structures and asynchronous programming.
  • Innovation: Interest in innovations within the mobile universe.
