Our Security Cloud Engineering team is part of the Security Technology Group organization. We help thousands of the largest enterprises around the world protect their websites and secure their transactions over the internet. Partner with the best

As an intern, you'll work with Golang, Python, or Java and gain hands-on software development experience. You'll help build security tools, backend infrastructure, and improve developer productivity. You'll collaborate with Cloud Engineers, Product Engineers, and DevOps teams while learning industry best practices.

As a Software Engineer Intern, you will be responsible for-

• Developing software tools and backend services using Golang, Python, or Java
• Supporting the creation and maintenance of schemas, data models, and databases (e.g., NoSQL databases like Cassandra and Redis)
• Developing APIs and client-server applications to support product needs
• Learning and applying Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines
  
  

Do What You Love

To be successful in this role you will-

• Have basic programming experience in Golang, Python, or Java (personal or school projects are a plus)
• Understand HTTP, RESTful APIs, and web services
• Be familiar with Linux systems (basic troubleshooting is a big plus)
• Interest in working with databases, especially NoSQL solutions like Cassandra and Redis
• Have enthusiasm for learning about cloud services (Linode, AWS)
  
  

Work in a way that works for you

Our 6-month intern program starts in July. The program requires you to be available 40 hours per week during summer months (July-September). We offer the opportunity to work part-time during the academic year (October-December).

This is a flexible role and may be performed at your home and/or the local Akamai office (in the country advertised). We are happy to discuss working options in this role and encourage you to speak with your recruiter in more details when you apply.
