Applications Project Manager – Pulp & Paper (EU)

Location: Europe (Home-Based) – Ideal locations: Central Europe (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Benelux) or Southern Europe (France, Italy, Spain, Portugal). Frequent travel across Europe (at least 50%) required. Proximity to an international airport is preferred.

Role Overview

As an Applications Project Manager in Pulp & Paper within Solenis Consumer Solutions, you will play a key role in supporting our EMEA Consumer Solutions sales team, focusing on Sizing for Graphical & Specialties and Packaging markets. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with industry leaders in a growing and dynamic field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Applications Support: Provide expert applications support to the EMEA Consumer Solutions sales team, specializing in Sizing for the Pulp & Paper sector, especially for Graphical & Specialties and Packaging markets.
  • Market Insights: Share valuable insights with the Marketing team regarding market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape.
  • Innovation & Development: Contribute to cross-functional teams in improving existing technologies and developing new solutions to meet customer demands.
  • Product Launch & Promotion: Engage in innovation projects and the launch of new products, working closely with R&D to bring forward groundbreaking technologies.
  • Training & Knowledge Sharing: Develop and deliver training sessions to the sales team, ensuring a continuous transfer of knowledge.
  • Support & Troubleshooting: Provide ongoing support for application technology, service programs, and troubleshooting for the sales team.

Qualifications

Education:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering, Paper Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • An advanced qualification (e.g., MBA or a Ph.D.) could be beneficial but is not required.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Pulp & Paper industry, with a strong focus on applications support and project management in industrial settings.
  • Proven expertise in Sizing technology and its application within the Pulp & Paper industry, specifically for Graphical, Specialties, and Packaging markets.
  • Basic experience with paper & board printing technologies, including:
  • Offset & flexographic printing (conventional printing technologies).
  • Reprography, inkjet & HP Indigo printing (digital printing technologies).
  • Experience in sales support, collaborating with technical and sales teams to implement solutions for customers.
  • Familiarity with process optimization, troubleshooting, and providing technical support in an industrial context.
  • Previous experience working in cross-functional teams (e.g., R&D, Marketing) to develop new products and solutions.
  • Strong background in market analysis, with the ability to identify customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape insights.

Skills

  • Project management experience, with the ability to handle multiple initiatives and lead projects from conception to delivery.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to innovate and develop new solutions.
  • Fluency in English (required); proficiency in additional European languages (e.g., German, French, Spanish, Italian) is highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and project management software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal teams and external clients.
  • Willingness to travel (at least 50%) and flexibility in working across different time zones as needed.
