Senior Bioinformatics Specialist [5+years]

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop, maintain, and optimize bioinformatics pipelines and workflows.

Implement and manage CI/CD processes to ensure reliable and scalable deployment of bioinformatics tools.

Manage, analyze and interpret large and complex datasets involving sequencing, gene expression, and population-based cohort studies derived from different sources including banked primary biological samples and a range of publicly available data sets

Document processes, workflows, and system configurations.

Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in bioinformatics and DevOps.

Perform genomic data analysis.

Mentoring junior bioinformaticians

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES :

· Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, bash or Perl.

Experience with bioinformatics tools and software (e.g., BWA, GATK, Dragen, VEP, BCFTools..). Knowledge of DevOps practices, including CI/CD, containerization (Singularity/Aptainer).

Experience with workflow management frameworks (Nextflow)

Strong understanding of version control systems (e.g., Git).

Ability to work in a Linux/Unix environment and perform shell scripting.

Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

EXPERIENCE:

· 5 years of experience in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related field. Hands-on experience with DevOps tools and practices.

Previous experience in managing bioinformatics pipelines and workflows.

Experience in High Throughput Sequence (HTS) data analysis (DNA-seq, RNA-seq....), microarray data analysis, experimental design, data integration, algorithm development, development of sequence analysis tools (bioinformatics programming), evaluation of analytical tools and technology, and delivering training to the research community
