Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and rollout our global DWDM networks.
- Drive scaling designs to meet the growing demands of our customers.
- Create and implement processes to optimise the operation and growth of our optical network.
- Collaborate closely with other Networking teams to ensure seamless integration.
- Evaluate new products and manage the commercial tender process.
- Ensure adherence to defined network standards for our optical network.
- Review and implement changes on optical systems to enhance performance.
- Lead operational excellence projects aimed at improving the quality and reliability of our DWDM network.
- Troubleshoot complex network issues and develop innovative solutions daily.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a technology-related field or equivalent experience is essential.
- Proven industry experience in network engineering.
- Expertise in optical planning and modelling tools, with experience in large DWDM network rollouts.
- Strong understanding of IP networking fundamentals and IP protocols.
- In-depth knowledge of major DWDM platforms such as Ciena, Infinera, and Cisco.
- Extensive experience with major router platforms (Cisco and Juniper), including compatible supervisory and line cards.
- Proficiency in internet routing protocols, particularly BGP and OSPF.
- Excellent network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with protocols & technologies including T1/DS1, DS3, SONET, 802.2/3, 802.1d VLANs/STP, IPv4, IPv6, TCP, HSRP, GLBP, PIMv2, IGMP, LDP, TACACS, IPSEC, VPNs, netflow, DNS, and HTTP.
