Senior Java Software Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Java Developer to join our Global Customer Data Management team, where you’ll play a crucial role in developing high-speed, high-volume solutions that power ING’s customer data services. As part of Touchpoint Platform, you’ll be at the core of ING’s transformation into a next-generation financial services platform, delivering scalable banking functionalities used across retail and wholesale banking.

Your role

• Work in an end-to-end customer journey squad alongside engineers, customer journey experts, and a product owner.
• Collaborate with the team to interpret business requirements and deliver features with real business value.
• Take ownership of design, development, and maintenance of high-availability services.
• Influence technology choices and contribute to the architecture of newly developed components.
• Ensure software security and compliance, applying timely updates and minimizing IT risk.
• Write high-quality code and develop automated unit, integration, and regression tests.
• Share knowledge, foster collaboration, and help team members grow.

Requirements

What you bring

• Strong experience with Java 17+ and Spring Boot
• Experience with DevOps, infrastructure tasks, and cloud environments (Azure, pipelines, certificates)
• Knowledge of Domain-Driven Design principles
• Experience with Unit & Integration testing
• Strong focus on code quality and clean coding principles
• Bonus: Experience with Kafka, Cassandra, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK

Competitive salary and benefits:

• 12 months contract with the possibility of extension, aiming for internal employment at ING Bank after 18 months.
• A 36 or 40 hour workweek with flexible hours and a hybrid working model (office and home-based).
• Salary range: € 5.250,00 - € 8.250,00 gross per month (based on 36 hours per week, based on experience).
• Additional benefits: holiday allowance, 13th month and pension contributions.
