We are looking for a Frontend Engineer Trainee to join our Sokos.fi team in Helsinki. The role is fixed-term and we hope that you can work with us approximately between June and August. Sokos.fi is part of the SOK Digital Development community, where we develop web services and apps for the whole S Group - digitalizing the S Group services. Your future team has developers, designers, QA, business and analytics, all working together as a team. You will have a great opportunity to gain top-notch skills and work with talented colleagues! We work in a hybrid setting so it would be great if you could work from our office Ässäkeskus in Helsinki at least 2 days per week.

Your Responsibilities

As a Frontend Engineer Trainee your main duties during the summer will be feature development and maintenance work (eg. doing small fixes and updating libraries) with the Sokos.fi team. Your tasks will mostly revolve around the frontend using TypeScript+React+NextJS+CSS, but based on your interests you’ll also have the possibility to work with the backend. You’ll be a real team member of the Sokos.fi cross-functional team – of course having Senior colleagues there to support you in your learning journey.

Is this you?

You are curious and analytical, and you communicate effectively in English. You love to write code and solve problems. You respect software engineering as a team sport, so working with others is your preferred way to get things done. As our Trainee we expect you to have 1-2 years of engineering studies behind you, and through that a basic understanding of software engineering. While we don’t require prior work experience from the field, all experience in coding counts as your advantage – especially frontend and React related experience.
