The NATO Communication and Information Agency (NCIA) is responsible for providing secure and effective communications and information technology (IT) services to NATO's member countries and its partners. The agency was established in 2012 and is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.

The program
Assistance and Advisory Service (AAS)
The NATO Communications and Information Agency (NCI Agency) is NATO’s principal C3 capability deliverer and CIS service provider. It provides, maintains and defends the NATO enterprise-wide information technology infrastructure to enable Allies to consult together under Article IV, and, when required, stand together in the face of attack under Article V.
To provide these critical services, in the modern evolving dynamic environment the NCI Agency needs to build and maintain high performance-engaged workforce. The NCI Agency workforce strategically consists of three major categorise's: NATO International Civilians (NIC)'s, Military (Mil), and Interim Workforce Consultants (IWC)'s. The IWCs are a critical part of the overall NCI Agency workforce and make up approximately 15 percent of the total workforce.
Role Duties And Responsibilities
The main role for this junior position is to undertake a range of analytical and data related tasks, under the direction and supervision of Operational Analysis (OA) staff. More specifically duties will entail:

- Command and Control Systems: The NCIA develops and maintains the systems used by NATO's military commanders to plan and execute operations.
- Satellite Communications: The NCIA provides satellite communications services to enable secure and reliable communications between NATO forces.
- Electronic Warfare: The NCIA provides electronic warfare services to support NATO's mission to detect, deny, and defeat threats to its communication networks.
- Information Management: The NCIA manages NATO's information technology infrastructure, including its databases, applications, and servers.

Role Duties And Responsibilities
The main role for this junior position is to undertake a range of analytical and data related tasks, under the direction and supervision of Operational Analysis (OA) staff. More specifically duties will entail:
- Undertaking Data and Operational Analysis. This will include being comfortable with large data sets and supporting analysis of complex problems using simple tools.
- The work may involve the use of various OA techniques including wargaming, modelling, what-if analysis, etc.
- Translating existing military logic and documented rules from pseudocode into more efficient Python Code in a DevOps environment.
- Supporting data collection, collation and analysis using a range of tools (including Python, Excel, etc.).
- Supporting OA Centre staff in the development and update of documentation/reports.
- Being able to undertake in a methodical way data collection using a range of sources and presenting data back in a concise, clear and logical manner.
- Producing, under time pressure, accurate (i.e. verified, validated and consistent) data sets using MS Office tools at an expert level.
- Summarising results to be presented in PowerBI Dashboards, MS PowerPoint presentations and MS Word documents
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a professional environment conducting analytical studies to supporting decision- makers using operational research/analysis tools and techniques such as modelling & simulation, statistical analysis, what-if analysis or optimisation.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience using Python to support data analysis
- Ability to undertake detailed review and analysis of large data sets using commercial and in-house tools (e.g. MS Excel and other data analysis tools).
- Business English
- A bachelor's degree from a nationally recognized/certified University in a relevant discipline such as computer science, maths/science, operational research/analysis, or economics
- The Hague, Netherlands
- On-Site
- Some travel to Mons, Belgium and Brussels, Belgium may be required
- Valid National or NATO Secret personal security clearance
