The "Technical Standardisation for Trustworthy and Sustainable ICT, Construction, and Aerospace" research programme represents a strategic collaboration between Luxembourg Institute of Standardisation, Accreditation, Safety, and Quality of Products and Services (ILNAS) and SnT at the University of Luxembourg. This multidisciplinary initiative is aligned with Luxembourg's National Technical Standardisation Strategy 2024-2030 and emphasizes sustainability across various growth sectors for Luxembourg’s economy. The programme includes cutting-edge research activities and promotes active contributions to international standardisation efforts. As a Research Associate, you will play a pivotal role in advancing the programme’s research and standardisation goals. You will join a collaborative environment with three PhD candidates working on interconnected projects in Quantum Optimisation, People-Centred Design for Sustainable Construction, and Sustainable Space.

Your role
We are seeking an outstanding Research Associate to strengthen the research team in the area of Search, Optimization, and Machine Learning Techniques. As a Research Associate, you will:
- Conduct state-of-the-art research in search, optimization, and machine learning, focusing on addressing sustainability challenges in ICT, Construction, and Aerospace
- Oversee and mentor PhD students, ensuring alignment of their work with the programme goals
- Manage research and standardisation activities, including organizing workshops, reporting, and disseminating results through publications and conferences
- Contribute to technical standardisation efforts by participating in relevant committees to the research programme
- Write research proposals and support the group’s efforts in acquiring funding
- Represent the University of Luxembourg in international research forums, fostering collaboration and visibility
- Participate in teaching activities

Your profile
- PhD in any discipline relevant to this area of research (e.g. computer science, applied mathematics, operations research)
- Expertise in exact, approximated methods, meta-heuristics and/or machine learning
- Experience in writing successful research proposals
- Experience in managing research projects
- Knowledge of sustainability challenges and technical standardisation efforts
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills in English are required
- Commitment, creativity, and teamwork skills
