Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior R&D Project Manager for its Technology Center group. This role will focus on running projects and contributing to the global roadmap execution, working in close cooperation with experts in Artificial Intelligence framework as well as with design and manufacturing specialists. As a member of the highly skilled global Technology Center team, you will have the possibilities to use your creativity to solve a wide spectrum of challenges. You will have exciting and varied work in front of you where you will get a broad network internally and externally. Our R&D Team is serving global technology development of distribution transformer business. This position can be in the office or hybrid work setup. Candidates will be required to travel up to 10% (globally) based on project needs.

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Senior R&D Project Manager for its Technology Center group. Our R&D Team is serving global technology development of distribution transformer business. This position can be in the office or hybrid work setup. Candidates will be required to travel up to 10% (globally) based on project needs.
Your responsibilities
- Leads global and cross-functional AI/ML project/s with limited complexity and/or sub-project of a complex project as responsible for all elements of the project/s. Motivates and leads internal and/or external resources to accomplish all tasks and milestones. Shows high level of ownership and commitment.
- Develop and oversee research and development projects, ensuring timely delivery, alignment with company’s AI strategy, proper resource allocation and effective collaboration across teams and stakeholders.
- Ensures project follows sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with standard Hitachi Energy internal directives, Hitachi Energy Gate Process and procedures. Ensures projects follow external standards etc. that influence activities and targets.
- Uses own technical domain knowledge to provide technical support to colleagues or other functional teams. Creates and manages relationships with third party providers as needed.
- Establish effective project communication plans and ensures their execution as well as facilitates change requests to ensure that all parties are informed of the impacts on schedule and budget.
- Identifies, contains and reduces risk. Ensures appropriate handling of change requests. Ensures transparency around unforeseen results/events and identified risks and makes sure that they are properly prioritized, managed and communicated.
- Ensures understanding of customer value. Takes into consideration requirements and demands coming from customers and from different functions (sales, supply, production, etc.). Acts to ensure customer satisfaction and expectations.
- Serves as the key contact for the project stakeholders. Effectively communicates appropriate information to stakeholders in a timely manner and to achieve desired understanding and support.
- Conduct post project evaluation and identifies successful and unsuccessful project elements. Share lessons learned and contribute to improved ways of working.
- BS in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical, Mechanical or related discipline and at least 5 years of related working experience; OR MS/PhD in related field.
- Proven experience in managing technical projects related to AI/ML, including planning, execution and delivery.
- Strong communication and presentation skills; able to effectively communicate complex technical topics with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to quickly grasp concepts from a field that is not one's core competency; A fast learning generalist capable of solving problem independently and resourceful in matrixed corporate environment.
- Good command of oral and written English language skills.
- Experience with power product (distribution transformers) or similar industrial goods manufacturing environment.
- Familiar with modern project management process/tools.
- PowerBI, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence knowledge/experience is an advantage.
- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) is considered a plus.
