About The Role
As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a critical role in refining and evolving our existing drone platforms to improve manufacturability and performance. In addition, you will oversee the mechanical hardware for our hardware-in-the-loop test environment. This position combines hands-on design, supplier management, and the development of cutting-edge lab environments to support our software and AI teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and modify mechanical components for existing and future drone models using 3D CAD.
- Optimize drone designs for faster, more efficient manufacturing processes.
- Utilize 3D printing and additive manufacturing techniques for prototyping and part production.
- Manage relationships with suppliers and external manufacturing partners.
- Oversee and develop our hardware lab and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) test suite to support the software team.
- Perform FEM (Finite Element Method) analysis and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulations to enhance performance and structural integrity.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD design and experience designing complex mechanical parts.
- Hands-on experience with 3D printing and additive manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and ability to manage suppliers.
- Experience maintaining and improving hardware lab environments for testing and development.
- Knowledge of FEM and CFD analysis tools.
- Excellent communication skills in English; knowledge of a Scandinavian language is advantageous.
- Residence and work permit in Norway (or willingness to relocate, we welcome applicants looking to move to Norway)
- Experience with drone or robotics design.
- Familiarity with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing environments.
- Background in fluid dynamics or thermal analysis for UAV systems.
