York is hiring! We are currently seeking a Kotlin Engineer that meets the below requirements for a long-term contract opportunity. This position will be hybrid on-site in Brooklyn Park, MN.

Senior Kotlin Engineer – Enterprise Inventory

We are looking for a Senior Kotlin Engineer to join our Enterprise Inventory team, which manages inventory for both stores and warehouses. The team supports inventory data, replenishment, and Target.com, working with a highly scalable, distributed system built with Kotlin, Java, Spring Boot, Micronaut, and Kafka.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and enhance microservices that support enterprise inventory systems.
• Architect and implement scalable, high-performance distributed systems.
• Write and maintain event-driven applications using Kafka (producers and consumers).
• Ensure high code quality through testing and maintaining strong test coverage.
• Participate in on-call rotations (approximately every 6 weeks for one week).
• Improve system observability through logging, metrics, and monitoring tools.
• Support and troubleshoot operational issues, ensuring system reliability and performance.

Must-Have Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong expertise in Kotlin (senior-level required, minimal ramp-up time).
• Proficiency in Java and Spring Boot (Micronaut experience is a plus).
• Extensive experience with Kafka in event-driven architectures.
• Experience with highly scalable, distributed systems.
• Database expertise in PostgreSQL and MongoDB.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience with Micronaut (if strong in Spring Boot, Micronaut experience is not required).
• Familiarity with Elastic (ELK Stack), Grafana, InfluxDB, and RocksDB.
• Experience working with cloud-ready applications deployed on an in-prem cloud.
