UI/UX Internship

WanderKit® is a new social & adventure platform with the goal of encouraging like-minded people to play and explore more. The mobile app enables our community to embark on adventures with new friends while simplifying the research and planning process. Our mission is to build an online and offline community that inspires, motivates and learns from unique experiences. We are rapidly growing our team around the world and expanding our networks of partners and ambassadors.

The ideal candidate would be an adventurous and curious spirit; passionate about data-driven design and AI for good. This is an ideal internship for those who love to meet new people, make a difference in the way people connect and use social platforms!

The candidate will work closely with the product owner and marketing team creating designs for mobile, web and dashboard. We work in a fast pace and flexible environment with a talented global team. We have an open communication policy and you will enjoy working in a flat organization with flexible career opportunities. You will get hand on experience and guidance every step of the way to become a skilled interaction and experience designer. This is an unpaid internship with opportunity for part-time or contract after 3 months. We will provide professional assessment and review to discuss freelance or full-time opportunities.

Hours and day are flexible because we want to provide the optimum internship experience that will advance your career or portfolio.

Responsibilities and Duties

* Create visual concepts, wireframes, and responsive mobile/desktop mock-ups

* Design interactive animations and rapid prototypes

* Contribute to creative brainstorms and user research

* Assist with maintaining design system in Figma and design documentation

* Prepare files for hand-off to developer

Skills Required

* Experience with with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere, and XD. Familiarity with Sketch or similar tool.

* Current enrolled as or graduated with degree in Cognitive Sciences, Visual Design, UI/UX, HCI, Multimedia Design, or related fields

* Portfolio website or PDF for review (Mandatory)

* Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office and Google Tools

* Good understanding of responsive web and mobile app design

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Can work well independently and in a collaborative team

Expect to learn:

* UI/UX/HCI Design Principles

* Creative collaboration in a professional tech setting

* Production Design process & softwares

* Presentation and team communication skills

* Better proficiency of the Adobe Photoshop/ Illustrator, Figma, and many other design tools

* General understanding of concept to launch process; Collaboration, Comps, Designing, Presentation, Spec tuning, Development, Maintenance, Marketing Support

Compensation:

- Nonpaid 3 month internship for credit or experience, recommendation letter available for qualified candidates

- Oppportunity to freelance as Jr UI/UX $16-20/hr if hired after internship
