Business Intelligence Developer

The role

At FRISS, we are on a mission to revolutionize the insurance industry through new technologies and data-driven insights. As a BI Developer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and maintaining Power BI reports for both our internal teams and external customers. In close collaboration with the product and customer departments, you will ensure the delivery of high-quality reports that enable effective analysis and decision-making. Working as part of the Insights team, you'll have the opportunity to explore new technologies and develop innovative solutions that enhance our services and support data-driven decisions.

The team

The Insights team operates within our Business Operations department and consists of two data engineers and two BI developers. Positioned between the Product team and our customer-facing consultants, the Insights team enjoys a unique role, working on a diverse range of projects that bridge both internal operations and customer needs. This dynamic environment offers a place to learn and grow in the field of data & analytics.

This role offers the flexibility to work from our vibrant office in Utrecht, Netherlands, or partly remote from home. As part of our collaborative teams, you will have the opportunity to share knowledge and work alongside other data professionals.

Key Responsibilities include:

Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards for internal and external stakeholders, providing clear and actionable insights.

Maintain and sunset SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) solutions (experience with SSRS is a strong plus).

Engage in data modeling, cleansing, and transformation tasks to support the development of our data Lakehouse.

Ensure the quality and accuracy of the data presented in the dashboards.

Work in an Agile environment.

Collaborate closely with consultants, data scientists and product developers to understand data requirements and ensure data availability and integrity.

Troubleshooting: Assist in resolving data-related issues and address questions from data teams. Documentation: Contribute to documenting data processes, systems, and workflows.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Analytics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Business Intelligence development.
• Strong knowledge of T-SQL for database querying and development.
• Familiarity with coding in Python, particularly PySpark for distributed data processing.
• Strong proficiency with Excel, including data analysis capabilities.
• Proficiency in Power BI, including medium-level expertise in DAX, Power Query (PowerM), Report Modelling, and Row-Level Security (RLS).
• Familiarity with Azure Cloud Services and the general workings of its architecture.

1. Specific experience with Azure SQL, Azure Databricks, and Azure Key Vault.

• Experience with SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) is preferred.
• Agile mindset and experience in working agile/scrum.
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
• Eagerness to learn new skills.
• Excellent English language/communication skills, both written and verbal.
