AI Engineer

NextPlay are partnering with a fast-growing AI-driven startup looking for an AI engineer or machine learning expert who thrives on building and optimising AI-powered applications. If you're passionate about developing and deploying machine learning models, working with LLMs, and pushing the boundaries of AI, you'll fit right in.

You'll work on AI-driven applications, experiment with LLMs, fine-tune models, and deploy scalable AI solutions. This is a hands-on role where you'll collaborate closely with engineers, researchers, and product teams to bring cutting-edge AI capabilities to life.

What success looks like

• Design, develop, and optimise AI models for real-world applications
• Work with LLMs (GPT, Claude, etc.), fine-tuning and optimising them for performance and cost
• Deploy and scale machine learning models in production environments
• Automate workflows and enhance AI-powered features to improve efficiency
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate AI into products

What you'll bring

• Strong experience in machine learning, deep learning, and NLP
• Hands-on experience with LLMs like OpenAI’s GPT, Anthropic’s Claude, or similar
• Proficiency in Python and ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX
• Experience with AI model deployment, optimisation, and inference efficiency
• Ability to experiment, iterate quickly, and work in fast-paced environments

Bonus skills

• Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or Vercel AI SDK
• Background in fine-tuning and training custom AI models
• Knowledge of cloud-based AI deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Understanding of AI ethics, bias reduction, and model interpretability
• Experience working with multimodal AI (text, image, or video models)
