About Us: Airframe is an early-stage startup accelerating AI’s positive impact by mapping software ecosystems, identifying successful use cases, and empowering buyers to collaborate through shared insights. We’re building software procurement tools to help teams navigate the AI landscape effectively.
The Role: As a Staff Engineer and one of Airframe’s first hires, you’ll shape our technical foundation while working directly with the founders. You’ll architect core systems, design data models, and build scalable infrastructure to support our mission. We are interested in candidates who have worked for Big Tech and living in Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.
You’ll be:
- Designing robust data models and schemas for complex AI/software ecosystem relationships
- Building high-performance APIs to power our data aggregation and analytics layer
- Implementing business logic in Python to process and analyze LLM-generated insights
- Setting up and optimizing database performance across Postgres (relational) and Neo4j (graph) systems
- Collaborating with frontend engineers to ship end-to-end features iteratively
You should be:
- A Python expert with 5+ years building scalable backend systems
- Proficient in relational and graph databases (Postgres, Neo4j)
- Experienced designing REST/GraphQL APIs for data-intensive applications
- Comfortable working in early-stage environments with high autonomy
- Passionate about AI’s potential and its practical business applications

- API design (REST/GraphQL)
- Cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure)
Nice to haves:
- Experience with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.)
- JavaScript/TypeScript familiarity
- Vector databases
- Graph databases (Neo4j)
- DevOps tools (Docker, Terraform, Kubernetes)
