Make a difference as Quantitative Geneticist / Data Scientist

As a Quantitative Geneticist / Data Scientist, you will work in a team that directly supports our breeders. Your role involves translating questions from various crop teams into tangible data science solutions. You will work with massive amounts of phenotype, genotype, and environmental data gathered daily. By combining statistical genetics techniques like GWAS, QTL mapping, and Genomic Prediction with state-of-the-art machine learning methods, you will create smart algorithms and insights to define optimal breeding strategies and increase genetic gain.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement data science applications to support breeders.
• Translate complex questions from crop teams into actionable data science solutions.
• Apply statistical genetics techniques such as GWAS, QTL mapping, and Genomic Prediction.
• Collaborate with data engineers, IT professionals, researchers, and bioinformaticians.
• Coach breeders and colleagues to become more data-savvy.
• Ensure algorithms can run at scale and integrate with our central data platform.
  
  

What You Bring As a Future Colleague

• PhD or MSc in Genetics, Bioinformatics, Statistics, or a related field.
• Programming skills in R and Python.
• Experience with statistical genetics techniques and machine learning methods.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
