Project Title: Are our children feeling good and functioning well? Examining student well-being using a multi-dimensional approach
The study aims to develop a school well-being measure for children, named the Children's Wellness Inventory (CWI), to examine the school well-being profiles of primary school children to broaden the understanding of children's well-being across multiple contexts (i.e., school, home, and general). The findings will inform school initiatives to enhance students' resilience, motivation, engagement, and academic performance and help students have positive well-being for them to thrive and flourish in life. The mixed methods study seeks to recruit about 800 primary 4 and 5 students from four schools to complete a well-being questionnaire, after which a series of quantitative analyses will be done to answer the research questions. For the qualitative part of the study, 20 students will be interviewed to gain deeper insights into their well-being, lived experiences and life challenges. Focus group discussions (FGD) involving students and teachers will also be carried out during the development and pilot phases of the study.
