Network Engineer Contractor


Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Network Engineer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in network design, implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance. This role requires a strong understanding of networking protocols, security, and infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability of our network systems.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure, including LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless networks.
  • Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Configure and manage network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to enforce network security policies and ensure compliance with industry best practices.
  • Perform routine network maintenance, upgrades, and documentation of configurations.
  • Work with vendors and service providers to ensure seamless integration of network solutions.
  • Participate in incident response, disaster recovery planning, and network optimization initiatives.
  • Assist in the deployment and management of cloud networking solutions in AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (if applicable).
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and IT support staff.


Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 3-5 years of experience in network engineering, administration, or related roles.
  • Proficiency with networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, VLANs, etc.).
  • Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or other major networking vendors.
  • Strong understanding of network security principles, firewalls, VPNs, and IDS/IPS.
  • Knowledge of cloud networking concepts and experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud is a plus.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring tools such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues and provide effective solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to document technical processes.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, or AWS Certified Advanced Networking are highly desirable.
