Software Engineer (Java/Scala)

Job Title: Spark/Scala Engineer

Location: London (Hybrid – 1 Day On-Site Per Month)

Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum with a bonus.

A rapidly growing technology company in the digital entertainment industry is looking for a Java/Scala Software Engineer to join their team in London. This role offers the chance to work on cutting-edge, cloud-native systems that revolutionize music rights and royalty processing, ensuring that songwriters, performers, and other rights holders are paid accurately and transparently.

This opportunity is perfect for someone with 2-5 years of experience who is looking to develop their skills in a collaborative environment, with plenty of room to progress alongside senior engineers and technical leads.

Key Responsibilities:

• Take technical ownership of key Java/Scala services.
• Develop and support a complex suite of interrelated music industry cloud-native systems.
• Ensure systems are accurate, secure, and cost-effective while supporting highly performant server-side cloud-based applications.
• Troubleshoot production issues and implement long-term solutions.
• Apply test-driven development (TDD) principles and contribute to system design.

Key Qualifications:

• Experience implementing and supporting high-performance, cloud-based systems.
• Proficiency in Scala, with additional experience in Java and/or TypeScript.
• Strong SQL skills with experience in Postgres databases.
• Familiarity with AWS managed services, including EMR, Lambda, DynamoDB, Opensearch, and Snowflake.
• They use Spark, any experience in Spark would be great but it's not essential.
• Experience with AWS CDK or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
• Strong mathematical skills and an understanding of nuanced financial business logic and algorithms.
• Ability to work in agile environments (Kanban) and deliver high-quality code.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience with TypeScript for AWS CDK.
• Customer and stakeholder engagement experience.
• Familiarity with ITIL or similar processes.
