Junior Tableau Analyst

12-month contract, potential permanent placement

Our client in Lansing, MI is looking for an awesome entry-level Tableau/PowerBI Developer to add to an existing Data, Analytics and Visualization team. Please look at the job requirements, and apply if you feel like this is the opportunity for you.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, data analytics, or other IT Related fields OR Associates in IT related field & 2+ YoE OE 4+ YoE
• Tableau proficiency: A strong understanding of Tableau software and its various features, including creating
• dashboards, visualizations, and reports. Familiarity with Tableau Server and Tableau Desktop is also important.
• Data visualization: The ability to create effective and engaging data visualizations that communicate insights clearly and accurately.
• Data modeling and analysis: The ability to design and implement data models and perform data analysis using SQL or other tools.
• ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) experience: Knowledge of ETL processes and tools to extract, transform, and load data from various sources into a data warehouse.
• Business acumen: The ability to understand and analyze business requirements and translate them into actionable insights using Tableau and other BI tools.
• Communication skills: The ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a clear and concise manner.
• Attention to detail: The ability to ensure accuracy and completeness in data modeling, data analysis, and data visualizations.
• Problem-solving skills: The ability to identify and troubleshoot technical issues and find creative solutions to overcome them.
• Teamwork: The ability to work collaboratively with other members of the development team and stakeholders across the organization.
• Continuous learning: A willingness to stay up-to-date with the latest Tableau and BI trends, tools, and technologies and to continuously improve their skills and knowledge.

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Design and develop interactive and visually appealing Tableau and Power BI reports and dashboards that enable business stakeholders to access, analyze, and interpret data.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand their reporting needs and translate those needs into technical requirements.
• Offer the best-fit alternative solution when appropriate (knowing when to favor Tableau, Power BI, or another tool given a situation).
• Create complex calculations, measures, and calculated fields in Tableau and Power BI to support reporting and analysis needs.
• Develop and maintain data sources in Tableau Prep and Power BI Data Flows, including connecting to and extracting data from various data sources, transforming and cleaning data as necessary, and ensuring data accuracy and integrity.
• Collaborate with data engineers and other technical teams to ensure data is structured and organized in a way that enables efficient and effective reporting and analysis.
• Troubleshoot issues with existing reports and dashboards, and work with stakeholders to identify and implement solutions.
• Stay current with Tableau and Power BI best practices and new features and recommend process improvements and optimizations to enhance reporting capabilities.
• Train and support end-users on how to use Tableau and Power BI reports and dashboards effectively.
• Produce documentation for all Tableau and Power BI reports and dashboards developed, including technical specifications, user guides, and training materials
