Information Communication Technology Project Manager

We currently have a permanent opportunity for an ICT Project Manager in Melbourne. Join our Downer Professional Services team and play a key role in delivering complex Defence and national security projects that safeguard Australia’s future.

What You’ll Do

This role offers a broad scope, with key responsibilities including:

• Provide program management support for day-to-day operations within a Defence Technical Base, ensuring smooth execution of technical programs and projects.
• Design, develop, implement, and manage technical programs across nuclear and non-nuclear capabilities, aligning with Defence strategic priorities.
• Lead and coordinate stakeholder engagement, including Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG), Services, and Trilateral Partners, to ensure effective collaboration and program delivery.
• Oversee planning, scheduling, governance structures, and investment processes to support long-term capability development and operational readiness.
• Support program implementation by managing change processes, upskilling APS personnel, and transitioning responsibilities to internal teams by the set deadline.
• Develop and maintain essential program documentation, including governance frameworks, investment process artefacts, and PMO structures.
• Ensure compliance with Defence security, workforce, and operational requirements, managing resources effectively across Canberra and Melbourne locations.

What You’ll Bring

• You must have and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Security clearance as required by the Commonwealth.
• Significant experience in a similar role, preferably within a professional services firm or the Defence industry.
• Background in co-designing, implementing, and managing ICT or engineering-related programs, particularly in secure and classified environments
• Familiarity with Defence procurement, strategic planning, and capability development, ensuring projects align with government investment frameworks and compliance standards.
