Position: Java Backend Engineer

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid 3 days a week)

Job Description:

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in IT industry with good experience in JAVA/J2EE and restful web-services development.
• Significant coding experience with object-oriented PHP and any modern PHP framework is highly preferred. Otherwise, candidates must possess a demonstrated ability to onboard onto new languages rapidly.
• Provable proficiency in Go programming. Building optimized, scalable, and efficient applications using Go.
• Troubleshooting and debugging to optimize performance
• Developing and coding back-end components and connecting applications to other web services
• Exploring new technology solutions to enhance functionality continually • Strong backend experience is critical to this role and security expertise is a plus.
• Comfortable working with and improving upon legacy systems and code as you are building new features and applications.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience with databases directly, particularly MySQL and PostgreSQL, and how they are addressed by the application.
• Experience with injection frameworks like Spring, Spring Boot is a must.
• Must have solid experience with Java stack and build tools like GIT, tools for code quality and coverage.
• Should have experience working on AWS cloud environments.
• Experience developing new and enhancing existing features as well as investigating and resolving defects.
• Experience in Designing and developing web-based applications and backend services.
• Adhere to internal coding standards, development processes, and design best practices.
• Ensure quality by performing thorough testing and leveraging peer reviews for your work and the work of others.
• Experience with unit testing & Test-Driven Development (TDD).
• Experience with Agile development process and Scrum methodologies using JIRA.
• Solid communication and written skills: ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
