Freelance Devops Engineer

EU Nationality is required for this role to obtain clearance

Key Responsibilities:

• Implement improvements for continuous integration, delivery, and deployment through automation to ensure that iDL Digital Products can be deployed fully automated and timely.
• Develop and enhance DevOps practices within the iDL domain, promoting collaboration between development, maintenance, and operations teams, and driving continuous improvement.
• Conduct ongoing discussions with other teams to ensure that all environment processes and tools relevant to iDL support automation while complying with ICT security, compliance, and data protection standards.
• Review and approve software and documentation produced by the external provider to ensure it meets the project's technical and functional requirements.
• Ensure all deliverables comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.
• Collaborate closely with the external provider and internal teams in an agile manner to ensure successful project delivery.
• Monitor and ensure that the developments adhere to the development processes.
• Maintain detailed records of reviews, approvals, and any required modifications or improvements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to the external provider to ensure alignment with project goals and standards.
• Identify and mitigate any risks associated with the software development and integration process.

Technical Competencies:

• Proficiency in Java for being able to assess and review backend and frontend applications
• Proven experience with API standards (REST, Webservice) and OpenAPI.
• Proficiency in understanding Apache Kafka for building real-time data pipelines and streaming applications.
• Expertise in setting up and managing Jenkins pipelines for automated testing, integration, and deployment.
• Knowledge of Python to review scripting, automation, and developing custom tools.
• Experience in using Maven for managing Java project dependencies and automating the build process.
• Proficiency in using Git for version control, including branching, merging, and managing pull requests.
• Knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus) and experience with logging solutions (e.g., ELK stack) to ensure system reliability and performance
• Familiarity with Azure and their services for deploying and managing applications.
• Knowledge of security best practices in DevOps, including securing CI/CD pipelines, managing secrets, and ensuring compliance.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in a similar function.
• Experience with the application of modern software development methodologies and standards in large-scale software systems.
• Experience with system and software architectures.
• Understanding of Agile processes and principles (e.g. Scrum, SaFe)
• Experience in implementing DevOps principles within an organisation
