One our leading Public Sector clients in Plymouth seeking a Junior Network Engineer / DevOps Engineer. Our client specialises in cutting-edge solutions for the high traffic public sector online presence, ensuring high availability, security, and scalability of network infrastructure and cloud-based systems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and maintain network and cloud infrastructure to ensure performance, reliability, and security.
  • Automate deployment and infrastructure processes using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Manage and monitor cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and on-premises network solutions.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines to enhance the efficiency of software delivery.
  • Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with best practices and security standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve networking and system performance issues proactively.
  • Provide technical support and documentation for internal teams.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Ideally 6 months experience in network engineering, including routing, switching, firewalls, and VPNs.
  • Interest in DevOps practices, automation, and cloud computing (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Python, Bash, or PowerShell) for automation.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Kowledge of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).
  • Understanding of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI/CD.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Desirable Skills:

  • Certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or Azure Administrator.
  • Experience with hybrid cloud environments and cloud networking solutions.
  • Understanding of Zero Trust Architecture and security best practices.
