Software Engineer

About The Role

Betashares is one of Australia’s leading financial services brands and a market leader in the exchange-traded fund (ETF) industry. Our fast-growing wealth platform, Betashares Direct, is on a mission to become a true ‘one-stop shop’ for Australians to invest and save for retirement.

We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our Direct Core Platform team, helping to build and enhance the backend software and infrastructure that powers our platform - including trade, cash, and user management. You’ll play a key role in bringing our ambitious product roadmap to life, working on a range of new features and system improvements.

Role Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain high-performance, high-availability backend services across the Betashares Direct platform.
• Manage cloud infrastructure using AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
• Architect and build solutions to enhance scalability and support a fast-growing platform.
• Write clean, robust, and secure code, following best engineering practices.
• Work collaboratively in an agile team to deliver high-quality solutions.
  
  

Skills & Experience

• Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years' experience as a software engineer, with a focus on backend and platform development.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, with a willingness to learn Go and Rust.
• Experience with SQL databases, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on high-quality solutions.
• Passion for technology and software development, with an interest in the financial services industry.
