The Product & Data Engineering team is responsible for end-to-end development for Disney’s world-class consumer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and digital products & experiences across ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News. The team drives innovation at scale for millions of consumers around the world across Apple, Android, Smart TVs, game consoles, and the web, with our platforms powering core experiences like personalization, search, messaging and data.

Job Summary

As a member of Disney’s Web Core Services Developer Experience team you will focus on increasing developer productivity by streamlining tooling and libraries for Disney’s suite of applications, including Disney+, Star+, Hulu, and ESPN+. As part of the team you will be responsible for delivering what aims to be the largest media streaming platform in the world.

Responsibilities And Duties Of The Role

  • Partners with team members, product and engineering partners to deliver new features and fix project issues while developing specifications for assigned components, projects, or fixes.
  • Efficiently supports software throughout the lifecycle. Performs technical maintenance and solving for components while maintaining clear documentation.
  • Contributes to core software project needs and the evolution of the team's practices; recommending changes in development, coding, maintenance and system standards.
  • Participates in the code review to gain validated understanding of the fundamental knowledge of software systems.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Basic foundational programming knowledge of web based applications.
  • Experience working within a modern Javascript workflow.
  • Experience with React and frameworks like Next.js or Node
  • Proven ability to learn, understand, and adapt to new technologies.
  • Self-learner who identifies root causes and drives solutions.
  • Ability to write code that is easy to read and understand that follows standard methodologies.
  • Highly thorough with the ability to clearly detail work.
  • Exhibits emotional intelligence, managing oneself under high pressure/stressful situations and meets urgent timelines.
  • Optimally collaborates and communicates with team members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working across multiple teams in a collaborative environment
  • Experience with RFCs and other ways of collaborating and building consensus
  • Exposure to large scale systems and applications

The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, CA is $114,900 - $154,100, for New York, NY is $120,300 - $161,300, for Seattle is $120,300 - $161,300, and for San Francisco, CA is $125,800 - $168,700. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
