Sr Systems Engineer (m/f/d)

Position: Senior Systems Engineer

Location: Doha – Qatar – SOC Fusion center

Total Experience: 8+ years of systems engineering/administration and experience with networks, servers, and virtualization.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Linux Administration:
  
  

Installing and configuring Linux operating systems on servers and workstations.

Setting up system parameters, file systems, and software.

Creating, modifying, and deleting user accounts.

Managing user permissions and access control.

Installing, updating, and removing software packages using package management tools like apt, yum,

System Maintenance:

Performing routine system updates and patch management.

Monitoring system performance and addressing performance issues.

Managing system backups and recovery procedures.

Implementing and maintaining security policies.

Configuring firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other security measures.

Conducting regular security audits.

Configuring and managing network interfaces.

Troubleshooting network-related issues.

Implementing and managing network services like DNS, DHCP, and VPN.

Identifying and resolving hardware and software issues.

Responding to system outages and incidents promptly.

Optimizing system performance through fine-tuning configurations.

Analyzing and improving resource utilization.

• Windows Administration:
  
  

Installing and configuring Windows Server operating systems.

Configuring system settings and parameters.

Creating, modifying, and deleting user accounts and groups.

Managing group policies and permissions.

Applying Windows updates and patches to ensure system security.

Monitoring and managing update deployment.

Administering user access controls and permissions.

Managing security groups and organizational units.

Configuring and managing file shares.

Implementing and maintaining security policies.

Configuring firewalls, antivirus, and other security measures.

Conducting security audits and risk assessments.

Configuring and managing network interfaces.

Troubleshooting network-related issues.

Implementing and managing network services like DNS and DHCP.

Creating and managing Group Policy Objects (GPOs) for centralized system configuration.

Enforcing security policies and system settings.

Identifying and resolving hardware and software issues.

Responding to system outages and incidents promptly.

• VMware Administration:
  
  

Install, configure, and maintain VMware virtualization infrastructure.

Monitor virtual machines (VMs) and ensure optimal performance.

Implement and manage VMware vSphere components, such as ESXi hosts and vCenter Server.

Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to virtualization infrastructure.

Apply security best practices to virtualized environments.

• Nutanix Administration:
  
  

Deploy, configure, and manage Nutanix clusters.

Ensure the Nutanix environment meets performance and scalability requirements.

Implement best practices for cluster design and optimization.

Create and manage virtual machines (VMs).

Optimize virtualized environments for performance and resource utilization.

Configure and manage networking components within the Nutanix environment.

Ensure proper network connectivity and bandwidth for VMs.

Collaborate with network teams to troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues.

Monitor the overall health and performance of Nutanix clusters.

Identify and resolve performance issues in collaboration with other teams.

Implement proactive measures to prevent performance degradation.

• Zabbix Monitoring:
  
  

Installing and configuring the Zabbix server on the chosen platform.

Setting up the Zabbix frontend & Backend.

Defining and configuring monitoring targets such as hosts, servers, and network devices.

Implementing host groups for logical organization.

Defining triggers to set alert conditions based on monitored metrics.

Configuring actions to be taken when triggers are activated, such as sending notifications or executing scripts.

Configuring alerting mechanisms for immediate notification of issues.

Integrating with email, SMS, or other notification channels.

Creating and customizing dashboards to visualize key performance indicators.

Generating reports on system performance and availability.

• Veeam Backup:
  
  

Monitor backup and replication jobs for success and failures.

Set up alerts for critical events and issues.

Generate and analyze reports on backup performance, status, and capacity.

Storage Management:

Manage backup storage infrastructure, including local and remote repositories.

Optimize storage usage and implement data deduplication and compression.

Plan for and implement storage expansion when needed.

Required Skills:
