Your Impact at MyEdSpace:

As VP of Engineering, you will be instrumental in scaling MyEdSpace’s engineering capabilities and driving technological innovation. You will work closely with the VP of Product lead and grow the engineering team, developing scalable architecture, and ensuring our platform meets the highest standards of performance, security, and scalability. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep technical expertise and experience scaling technology teams from Series A to Series C/D.

The Job to Be Done:

As the VP of Engineering, your responsibilities will include:

Scaling Engineering Operations:

• Build and lead a high-performing, technically strong engineering team.
• Establish a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Hire, mentor, and retain top engineering talent across multiple regions.
• Develop and execute an engineering roadmap that aligns with MyEdSpace’s growth and scaling needs.

Technology & AI-Driven Architecture:

• Define and implement a scalable, high-availability backend architecture.
• Incorporate AI-driven automation and personalization features into the platform.
• Optimize system reliability, performance, and security to handle global scalability.
• Oversee DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure management.

Data Engineering & AI-Powered Insights:

• Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines, warehousing, and analytics infrastructure.
• Leverage AI and data analytics to enhance platform intelligence and automation.
• Implement best practices for data security, privacy, and compliance.
• Ensure real-time data processing capabilities to drive product insights and operational efficiency.

Product & Business Alignment:

• Collaborate with VP of Product to align engineering efforts with company objectives.
• Design and maintain a B2B-grade backend that supports enterprise-level admin tools, CRM, and operational workflows while ensuring a B2C-friendly user experience.
• Ensure seamless integration of both B2B operational needs (admin, sales, CRM, and data management) and B2C product requirements (intuitive UX, engagement, and scalability).
• Work closely with leadership to make data-driven decisions that balance innovation, scalability, and user experience.

Platform Reliability & Performance Optimization:

• Continuously monitor system health and proactively resolve bottlenecks.
• Implement observability tools and best practices to improve uptime and user experience.
• Optimize backend systems for cost-efficiency while maintaining high performance.

The Profile We’re Looking For:

A Proven Track Record

• 7+ years of engineering leadership experience, ideally scaling a company from Series A to Series C/D.
• Proven experience in leading, managing, and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong expertise in building and maintaining scalable, high-availability systems, particularly for B2B SaaS and B2C-friendly platforms.
• Deep understanding of cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and backend scalability.
• Experience in developing platforms with a strong focus on both enterprise-level functionality (B2B) and consumer-friendly UX (B2C).
• Ideal to have experience in multi-region platform scaling and compliance in different markets.
• Strong track record of hiring, mentoring, and retaining top engineering talent.

A Technology & AI-Driven Architecture Expert

• Expertise in designing and implementing scalable backend architectures, preferably with Laravel/PHP or equivalent modern frameworks.
• Proven ability to drive engineering best practices, including CI/CD, DevOps, and microservices.
• Hands-on experience with API-first architectures and integrations with third-party services.
• Experience working with AI-powered features or automation to enhance platform capabilities.
• Strong understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance, particularly in regulated industries like education.
• Familiarity with machine learning infrastructure and AI-powered analytics is a plus.

Data-Driven & AI-Enhanced Engineering

• Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including ETL pipelines, warehousing, and real-time data processing.
• Skilled at leveraging data to drive technical decisions, optimize system performance, and enhance user experience.
• Experience in implementing monitoring, logging, and observability tools to ensure system health and reliability.
• Proven ability to balance technical debt with business priorities and long-term scalability.
• Comfortable working with analytics, automation, and AI-driven insights to improve platform efficiency and adoption.

Experienced in AI-Powered Product-Led Growth

• Deep understanding of building platforms that enable seamless customer onboarding, engagement, and retention.
• Experience collaborating closely with product and growth teams to develop AI-driven features that enhance user experience and business impact.
• Ability to design backend systems that support dynamic pricing, subscription models, and AI-assisted workflows.

Location and Work Style:

• Open to candidates working in UK, Europe, Eastern Europe, or the Middle East (within 5 hours of UK time).
• Must be able to work UK time zones, but flexibility is expected in the early stages.
• Willing to travel to the UK on a monthly/quarterly basis for in-person catchups (company-paid).
