[What you will be working on]


The GovTech Anti Scam Products Team’s mission is to build tech solutions to detect, disrupt and deter scammers at scale. The work spans data infrastructure, developing and deploying AI & ML to scale proactive detection, API connections to partners, as well as front-end systems for enforcement agencies.

What it is like working here:


Your job will be to bring your experience, technical expertise, and capability in solving abstract problems to tackling scams using tech.

Sometimes this means coding new systems from scratch. Other times this means using the best solutions the development community has to offer. We use cloud services, open source software, and commodity hardware as much as possible. These often include, but are not limited to: GitHub, AWS, React Native, and MongoDB, amongst others. Knowing what to build and what to reuse lets us avoid wasting time on solved problems and focus on delivering actual value.

As software engineer, you will

1. Build prototypes to demonstrate technological opportunities
2. Design system architectures
3. Write production quality code
4. Manage deployments to cloud infrastructure
5. Maintain systems to a high level of reliability
   
   
   

More senior software engineers will also be expected to:

1. Establish best practices for developer operations
2. Provide technical leadership across multiple product teams
3. Share your expertise and mentor other engineers
4. Help with recruiting
   
   
   

[What we are looking for]


Must have

1. Python, JavaScript and/or TypeScript
2. Experience working with CI/CD setups
3. Strong knowledge of AWS Cloud
4. Strong knowledge of algorithms and database structures
   
   
   

Preferred

1. Experience in running containers or serverless services
2. Experience building high scale, low latency APIs & deploying scaled AI / ML solutions
3. Experience with data intensive frameworks & data warehousing solutions (e.g. Glue,Spark, Presto), bonus if you’re familiar with graph data structures
4. Understanding of event driven architectures involving SQS/ Kafka, bonus if you’re familiar with Flink!

1. Rapid Prototyping - Instead of spending too much time debating ideas we prefer testing them. This identifies potential problems quickly, and more importantly, conveys what is possible to others easily.
2. Ownership - In addition to technical responsibilities, this means having opinions on what is being done and having ideas on what should be done next. Building something that you believe in is the best way to build something good.
3. Continuous Learning - Working on new ideas often means not fully understanding what you are working on. Taking time to learn new architectures, frameworks, technologies, and even languages is not just encouraged but essential.
