Data Governance Team Leader

Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic leader with a strong background in data governance, quality, and privacy to oversee the development and implementation of data governance frameworks, ensure data quality standards are met, and maintain compliance with privacy regulations. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership skills, expertise in data management practices, and the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders. You will lead a team to manage data assets, mitigate risks, and support business objectives through robust data handling processes, promoting a culture of data stewardship and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Data Governance Oversight and Management:

• Oversee the implementation of data governance initiatives.
• Manage the performance of data governance teams.
• Ensure alignment of data governance practices with organizational goals.

Data Quality Oversight and Management:

• Supervise data quality teams and their activities.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of data quality initiatives.
• Ensure resources are allocated effectively to address data quality issues.

Data Privacy Oversight and Management:

• Oversee the data privacy program and its implementation.
• Manage the data privacy team and their activities.
• Ensure continuous monitoring and improvement of data privacy practices.

Data Architecture Oversight and Management:

• Supervise the data architecture team and their projects.
• Ensure alignment of data architecture with business objectives.
• Manage the evaluation and adoption of new data technologies.

Other Data-Related Responsibilities:

• Oversee the collection, storage, and maintenance of data to ensure it is accurate, accessible, and secure.
• Work closely with cross-functional management to integrate data initiatives across the organization.
• Ensure and direct collaboration between data quality, data privacy, data architecture, and data governance teams to ensure delivery of a robust data management program for the organization.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience with substantial hands-on exposure to data management, data governance, data quality, data privacy, and data architecture.
• Proficiency in tools such as Informatica, Collibra, Talend, or similar platforms used for data governance and quality management.
• Understanding of frameworks like DAMA-DMBOK (Data Management Body of Knowledge) and best practices for data stewardship and data lifecycle management.
• Experience in implementing relevant data protection laws.
• Proven experience in leading and managing teams, including the ability to mentor and develop team members.
• Strong project management skills to oversee data governance initiatives from planning to execution.
• Experience with databases, warehouses, and lakehouses.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud data solutions and platforms such as Azure.
• Professional certifications such as Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT).
• Excellent presentation and conflict management skills.
• Exposure to using AI for data analysis and remedial measures.
