Software Engineer, Developer Experience

Our team is responsible for building the foundational systems that engineers rely on to develop stable, scalable, and efficient services. We provide standardized infrastructure that enables software developers to move fast while maintaining the flexibility they need to innovate within their teams. As a Software Engineer on the Developer Experience team at Lyft, you will shape and improve internal developer workflows and infrastructure, collaborating across teams to identify bottlenecks and design scalable solutions. Our team accelerates key processes such as local development, continuous integration, code review, testing, and artifact management. We directly impact every engineer at Lyft by reducing friction, integrating AI-powered automation, and ensuring a seamless developer experience. Your work will make development at Lyft faster, more reliable, and more enjoyable.

Responsibilities:

• Create and maintain foundational building blocks of our infrastructure.
• Create tools and services to build and test apps quickly to make engineers more productive
• Partner with adjacent Infrastructure engineering teams to understand their use cases, debug problems, and design scalable infrastructure solutions
• Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, and maintainable code.
• Build and develop partnerships across the organization to enhance the developer experience.
• Participate in our teams on-call rotations and respond to incidents
  
  

Experience:

• BS/MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or relevant work experience
• 3+ years of engineering experience working in any of these stacks; Python, GO, Java, etc
• Proficiency in object-oriented programming
• Ability to create production ready code in one or more high level languages, such as Go Lang, Python, Rust and C/C++ in large scale distributed systems
• Experience designing, debugging, and running fault-tolerant, highly available, large-scale distributed systems
• Experience working with public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Microsoft Azure)
• Familiarity with GitHub, common CI tools (e.g., Jenkins, Buildkite, CircleCI, TeamCity) and local tooling
• Solid knowledge of distributed systems, relational and NoSQL databases
• Proficient communication skills in English, both written and spoken
• Experience working in developer experience is a plus.

This role will be in-office on a hybrid schedule — Team Members will be expected to work in the office 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. Additionally, hybrid roles have the flexibility to work from anywhere for up to 4 weeks per year. #Hybrid

The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is $108,000-148,500 CAD. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location. Range is not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits.
