We are now seeking a VP of Engineering & Quality Assurance to lead and unify our engineering and QA functions, ensuring delivery quality, scalability, and efficiency.
For this role, we are ideally looking for someone who can work from one of our offices in Belgium (HQ in Zaventem). However, Stockholm (Sweden) or the UK are also possible alternative bases.
About The Role...
As the VP of Engineering & Quality Assurance, you will be responsible for overseeing multiple engineering teams, ensuring the successful development, deployment, and maintenance of our diverse product portfolio. You will drive standardization and best practices across the organization, aligning engineering and QA efforts to business objectives while optimizing efficiency of post-M&A integrations.
Key Responsibilities :
Strategic Leadership & Engineering Excellence:
- Develop and execute a unified engineering strategy and Target Operating Model across products and geographies.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Define and refine metrics/KPIs to measure the health, efficiency, and performance of Engineering and QA, using data-driven insights.
- Standardize engineering methodologies and tools across teams, ensuring autonomous end-to-end ownership of development lifecycles.
- Implement architectural principles that ensure scalability, performance, and security across deployment models.
- Lead the adoption of AI and automation technologies to enhance software quality and accelerate development.
- Manage cloud migrations (AWS, Azure, private cloud).
- Ensure engineering resources align with company priorities, balancing short-term deliverables and long-term technology strategy.
- Lead post-M&A technology integrations, ensuring smooth collaboration between teams from acquired companies.
Quality Assurance & Process Optimization
- Establish and oversee robust QA strategies, including automated testing, performance testing, security testing, and compliance.
- Implement quality metrics and KPIs to drive accountability and continuous improvement in engineering and QA functions.
- Champion DevOps and CI/CD best practices, ensuring smooth releases and high availability.
- Optimize testing frameworks for various deployment models.
Cross-functional Collaboration & Team Leadership
- Foster an inclusive, high-performance culture embracing diversity, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Develop leadership practices that empower teams and support career growth.
- Build and scale high-performing, geographically distributed engineering and QA teams.
- Design resourcing models balancing contract vs permanent staff, co-located vs remote, and nearshore vs offshore to optimize delivery.
- Drive collaboration between engineering, product management, customer operations, and business units.
- Mentor and develop engineering and QA leaders, fostering ownership, accountability, and innovation.
- Partner with security, compliance, and risk teams to ensure products meet industry standards.
Mergers & Acquisitions Integration
- Assess and integrate engineering teams, processes, and technologies post-M&A.
- Develop and implement harmonized development frameworks and quality assurance practices across acquired entities.
- Drive efficiencies by consolidating redundant systems and optimizing workflows.
Technology Overview
Dstny for Service Providers operates within a UCaaS environment, with a focus on Microsoft Teams and a mobile-first approach. The platform spans multiple cloud infrastructures (AWS, Azure, private cloud) to offer flexibility and scalability.
Key Technologies Include
- GitOps model for system consistency.
- OpenStack and VMware for virtualization and private cloud.
- Kubernetes for container orchestration.
- Micro frontends for modular UI development.
- Ansible and Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
- Jira for Agile project management.
- SIP for real-time communication (voice, video, presence).
- Supported development languages: C#, JavaScript, Java, React, and Vue.
What we're looking for in you...
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven ability to align technical decisions with user needs and business objectives.
- Track record of leading and transforming global, multi-disciplinary teams.
- Expertise in cloud, on-prem, and hybrid deployment models.
- Experience in DevOps best practices, enhancing system reliability and scalability.
- Expertise in designing, optimizing, and automating CI/CD pipelines for high-quality software delivery.
- Background in implementing automated testing frameworks for comprehensive test coverage.
- Experience leading engineering and QA teams using Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, Lean).
- Familiarity with microservices, APIs, distributed systems, and cybersecurity.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to communicate technical topics to non-technical audiences.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Experience/Qualifications
- Experience in enterprise SaaS or large-scale distributed systems.
- Background in AI/ML-driven quality assurance or test automation.
- Familiarity with compliance standards such as SOC2, ISO, NIS2 or GDPR.
- Experience working in private equity or high-growth startup environments undergoing rapid expansion.
