We are on the lookout for a dedicated entry level 5G NR Baseband Software Developer to join our Feature SW Development team at Ericsson. The role consists of designing, implementing and integrating User Plane Control (UPC) software functionality for Ericsson’s 5G NR purpose-built baseband and virtualized RAN solutions. This includes all software development activities such as: requirement analysis, system design, software design, integration, verification, Product Lifecycle Management support and product documentation. Our focus is on Lean and Agile ways of working. We organize in cross functional development teams in which continuous improvement, innovation and knowledge sharing is part of the daily work.

What you will do:
- Develop software, implementing new functionalities in C / C++ code, in a multi-core target environment as well as targeting Intel server/Cloud architecture.
- Engage in the design discussions for UPC software and performance aspects of 5G NR features
- Perform Continuous Analysis and Requirements Handling
- Apply knowledge of Real-Time Software development and wireless communication protocols (e.g. 5G NR)
- Ensure feature interaction impacts are handled correctly to deliver desired behaviour in customer networks
- Work in a lab environment to trouble-shoot and integrate complex new pieces of software
- Perform software deliveries using a software version control system
- Develop automated test cases to ensure existing functionality is never degraded by new software
- Document all system analysis, software designs and test plans
- Follow an Agile product development process, working collaboratively in small cross-functional teams
- Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering or Telecommunications - You must have graduated within the past 2 years
- 1+ year software development experience
- Well-crafted programming skills and excellent knowledge in C/C++
- Knowledge of wireless communications
- Excellent SW troubleshooting skills, able to identify and debug complex software systems
- Ability to read codebase and understand design intent
- Software development in a multi-core deployment scenario
- Excellent knowledge in Linux environments
- Experience from working in a Git/Gerrit based development flow
- Background working in a CI based development environment using e.g. Jenkins or similar
- Scripting experience (Python, Perl, Bash)
- Ability to work collaboratively in team as well as independently
- Initiative and perseverance to unblock oneself
- Excellent communication skills in verbal and written English
- Software development experience in wireless industry (5G NR, LTE, WCDMA, WiFi)
- Experience with 3GPP LTE/NR L1 and L2 development/design. This includes the PHY, MAC (Control and Data plane), RLC and PDCP layers.
- Knowledge of 3GPP standards, specifically NR protocols and systemization of NR features, scheduler, QoS, HARQ, Link Adaptation, MIMO, Carrier Aggregation
- Experience with tools development or test automation
- Software development on Intel server / Cloud architecture
- Ability to work with open-source SW components and tools
- Leadership or co-ordination experience
- Knowledge of wireless communication theory
