Fullstack Developer, Smart Energy Solutions (Helsinki, Tampere, Turku)

We’re building smart energy solutions for different customer segments including home owners (https://elisa.fi/kotiakku/ and telcos (https://elisa.com/des/) – and more customer segments will follow. The easiest analogy into what we’re building is to think of connecting thousands of Tesla Powerwalls into a virtual powerplant which is serving various energy markets, not just in Finland but across Europe.

We have needs for multiple different skills – starting from hardware and embedded systems to backend and client (web and mobile) development, data engineering and data science. You could be joining a multidisciplinary team that is harnessing data and AI to overcome issues arising from wind and solar becoming the main forms of energy production.

Are you excited about energy ecosystem transforming to zero-carbon era? Do you enjoy developing new solution concepts from idea stage to pilot installations to full-scale commercial launch? Can you see what should be technically feasible and progress towards that by iteratively removing the largest uncertainties first building high quality code? What’s the role about?

Designing and developing various applications needed for smart energy solutions including solutions used by external customers (Elisa Kotiakku mobile application) to internal operational solutions. As a Fullstack Developer, you would bring your expertise on developing user-friendly software integrating complex, mission-critical software systems, build new products from scratch and help us scale the solutions already built.

What do we expect from you?

• Great web frontend skills and experience: You thrive with React, TypeScript and Next.js especially in the context of consumer applications. You are comfortable being accountable for the whole lifecycle of your applications (development, testing, deployment and operating your software).
• Backend experience: You have some experience of building backend services (ideally in a distributed, high scale environment) and you’re at least familiar with Python.
• You are a team player, self-starter and have experience working in an agile team
• Experience with modern software development practices (DevOps/GitOps, Test Driven, Agile, clean code etc.).
• Big plus not mandatory: Flutter experience (yes, we build our mobile apps with Flutter).
• Nice to have: Experience with AWS, highly distributed systems, ML/AI, IOT devices and energy market solutions

Most of our team is based in southern Finland (Helsinki, Tampere or Turku), we work mostly remotely but aim to get together a couple of times a month.
