Data Scientist – Remote (Helsinki Onsite Once a Month)

Are you a data scientist with a passion for data processing and distributed computing? Do you want to work on high-impact projects in the climate and meteorology sector? If so, this opportunity could be for you.

My client is looking for a data scientist to join a growing team working on a long-term project with a major customer. You will develop a computational platform for processing and analyzing weather model data, using cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.

What You’ll Do:

• Work with distributed computing frameworks like Dask
• Set up and maintain Jupyter Notebook environments
• Define and standardize input data formats for efficiency
• Design data visualization strategies and integration methods
• Work in an environment leveraging Kubernetes (a plus) and AWS (beneficial)
• Support data access and management within a complex data environment

What We’re Looking For:

• Strong experience with Python and data processing
• Familiarity with gridded data formats like Zarr, NetCDF, GRIB2
• Experience with parallel or distributed computing (Dask is a plus)
• Ability to work independently and drive projects forward
• GIS or complex data experience is a bonus
