Engineering Manager (Golang) – Amsterdam (Hybrid)

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager with a love for Golang to join a growing team in Amsterdam. If leading a team, tackling complex technical challenges, and staying hands-on with development sounds like your kind of thing, this might be the perfect fit.

What’s the role?

You’ll be leading a tight-knit team of engineers—mentoring, guiding technical decisions, and still getting stuck in with writing clean, scalable code. The focus? Building high-performance, cloud-native systems with Golang and microservices, all while ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.

What you’ll be doing

• Leading a small but mighty team – You’ll manage a team of 3-4 Golang engineers and a QA engineer, supporting their growth and making sure they’re set up for success.
• Staying hands-on with development – This isn’t just a people-management role; you’ll still be coding, reviewing pull requests, and helping solve tricky technical challenges.
• Shaping architecture & best practices – You’ll guide the team in building scalable, efficient systems, setting coding standards, and ensuring top-quality work.
• Planning & roadmap management – Working closely with the Product Owner and Domain Architect, you’ll make sure development aligns with both business goals and technical strategy.
• Mentoring & career growth – Supporting your team’s development, running 1:1s, and fostering a culture of learning and improvement.
• Cross-team collaboration – Ensuring smooth communication between engineering, product management, and other teams.
• Driving CI/CD & system stability – Helping implement testing frameworks, pipelines, and deployment processes to keep things running like clockwork.
• Hiring & growing the team – Playing a key role in bringing in new talent and ensuring a great onboarding experience.
• Building an inclusive team culture – Fostering an environment where everyone feels valued, supported, and motivated to do their best work.

What we’re looking for

• Leadership experience – You’ve managed and developed engineers before, guiding them through technical and professional growth.
• Strong Golang expertise – You’re comfortable writing code, reviewing PRs, and leading by example.
• Agile mindset – You understand sprint planning, backlog management, and how to keep a team delivering efficiently.
• Great problem-solving skills – You can balance business goals with technical needs and make smart decisions along the way.
• Modern dev practices – Experience with CI/CD, Kubernetes, Git, and modern software workflows.
• Mentorship & coaching – You enjoy helping engineers level up in their careers.
• Clear communication – You can collaborate effectively across teams and ensure everyone’s on the same page.
• Fluent in English – Our team works in English, so strong communication skills are essential.
• Based in Amsterdam (or willing to relocate) – You’ll need to be in the office at least three days a week.
