About The Role

Join our mission to help SMBs measure and reduce their carbon footprints! As a Backend Engineer, you’ll contribute to designing, building, and optimizing Sage Earth APIs, which provide carbon measurement and classification capabilities. You’ll play a key role in data ingestion, backend development, and ensuring high-performance solutions.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and develop backend features using Kotlin (or Java).
• Build and maintain scalable API solutions that integrate data from various sources.
• Work with PostgreSQL to design and support efficient data storage solutions.
• Optimize application performance for maximum speed and scalability.
• Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (Terraform, AWS, Docker).
• Ensure security, performance, and architectural best practices are followed.
• Provide mentorship and support to junior developers.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless API delivery.
• Work closely with the Delivery Architect (Team Lead) to ensure successful project execution.

✔ Experience in backend development, with expertise in Kotlin or Java.

✔ Strong background in PostgreSQL, AWS, Terraform, and Docker.

✔ Experience working in agile, client-focused environments.

✔ Ability to mentor junior developers and share knowledge.

✔ Empathy, excellent people skills, and a collaborative mindset.

✔ Understanding of security best practices, performance optimization, and architectural patterns.

✔ Strong analytical and multitasking skills.

✔ Fluent English (B2 or higher).
