Technical Project Manager / Engineering Manager

TechRivo is a software consulting company based in Portugal but working with several European Companies.

We have Customers in Europe and Australia in projects ranging from Fintech to Education.

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Technical Project Manager / Engineering Manager with a strong background in software development and project leadership, particularly in Java-based technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Project Leadership: Manage IT projects end-to-end, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and adherence to client requirements
• System Design & Architecture: Collaborate with engineering teams to discuss, design, and validate system ideas and architectures, critically evaluating potential solutions
• Team Management: Lead small to medium engineering teams, mentoring developers, resolving challenges, and fostering a collaborative environment
• Client Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for customers, providing regular project updates, addressing concerns, and managing expectations
• Code & PR Reviews: Review code pull requests for quality and adherence to best practices (hands-on coding not mandatory but occasionally needed)
• Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with the CTO to align project execution with broader organizational strategies and goals
• DevOps Understanding: Assess and advise on DevOps strategies to ensure seamless deployment pipelines and system stability
• Reporting: Prepare and deliver detailed project status reports to both internal stakeholders and clients
• Adaptability: Quickly learn and understand new technologies and frameworks when required, especially to guide teams effectively

Qualifications

Technical Expertise:

• Strong background in Java and associated technologies
• Solid understanding of software architecture principles
• Experience with DevOps concepts (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, containerization, infrastructure as code)

Leadership Skills: Proven ability to manage and mentor engineering teams, ensuring alignment and quality outcomes

Project Management:

• Hands-on experience in managing IT projects of varying sizes
• Familiarity with agile methodologies, Kanban, or Scrum frameworks

Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to think critically, assess technical challenges, and propose effective solutions

Communication: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration

AI Experience (Bonus): Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and applications is a plus

Other/Soft Skills:

• English language proficiency
• Team Player
• Keen on doing video calls and tracking your work
• Comfortable doing a Technical Assessment Test
