Senior Data Engineer

Location: Slovenia or Zagreb (Croatia)

We are looking for

a seasoned Data Engineer, who enjoys the challenge of transforming data in a way that decisions can be made based on it. You will be developing the Farming Data Warehouse, our reporting layer consisting of quality-tested, well-modeled data ready to power internal dashboards and data applications. In this role, you can contribute to driving decisions with data that shape the future. 

Your role

• You will gather and document, understand and review technical and business requirements
• You will design and implement data models according to best practices and domain specifics
• You will write unit and data tests to ensure data quality
• Later on you will support the integration of the FDW back to the main platform - the Farming Software
• You will be responsible for providing feedback on data collection and quality issues to development teams
• Work in sync with the Login5 Foundation’s values and vision

Your experiences and skills

• Proficiency in SQL to write robust, efficient and readable queries
• Good knowledge of Python and comfortable writing APIs to support serving of modeled data from the data warehouse to consumer applications
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to solve data quality issues at the source by providing relevant feedback to software development teams
• Previous experience with DBT (Data Build Tool) is a plus
• Experience with dimensional modeling techniques is a plus
• We are cloud based - experience with GCP services is a plus (Big Query, Cloud Run Functions, …)
• Must be comfortable to work in an environment where good software development practices like version control, automatic testing, code formatting, CI/CD, reviews and agile development are used
• A proactive approach to going the extra mile and a strong affinity for topics related to sustainable agriculture and food systems
• Ability to work in an agile, fast changing startup environment where priorities can shift quickly
