Data Engineer - AI/NLP/ML

VASS is actively looking for an Expert in AI/NLP/ML to work for our client the European Commission remotely from Belgium.

JOB DESCRIPTION

• Development and maintenance of software applications in the field of Natural Language Processing (NLP), Machine Learning (ML) and/or Artificial Intelligence (AI);

• Design and optimize machine learning systems and deep learning architectures;

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI/ML solutions into existing products or processes

• Design the IT architecture for solitons in the NLP / ML / AI fields, and coordinate its implementation considering master- and meta-data management concepts;

• Conduct data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation;

• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI/ML technologies and algorithms;

• Maintain AI deployed solutions on SaaS platforms (AWS, Azure)

• Document architecture blueprints and discuss business requirements

The candidate will report to the Architect Office as well as to the different project managers for the

projects in which she/he will engage. The Architecture Office applies the SAFe methodology and work activities get assigned as part of the sprint planning.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

•Master's degree in Computer Science or related field

•Ability to perform proof of concepts (PoC) efficiently and fast;

•Ability to give business and technical presentations;

•Ability to apply high quality standards;

•Ability to cope with fast changing technologies used in cloud-based environments;

•Very good communication skills with technical and non-technical audiences;

•Analysis and problem solving skills;

•Capability to write clear and structured technical documents;

•Ability to participate in technical meetings and good communication

SPECIFIC EXPERTISE

•Very good knowledge of Large Language Models (LLMs), Text embeddings, Tokenization and Vectorization, Machine and Deep Learning;

•Very good knowledge and understanding of Python/Java/Containers (Docker/Kubernetes)/Cloud AI services (AWS, Azure);

•Good knowledge of natural language processing systems lifecycle and Agile software development methodologies;

•Good knowledge of quality assurance and quality control for machine translation (MT) and experience with MT quality procedures, testing methodologies and tools, such as automatic quality metrics (BLEU scores and similar) and human evaluation

CERTIFICATIONS & STANDARDS:

One of the following certificates & standards are desirable for the performance of tasks:

•AWS Certified Machine Learning / Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate

•AWS Certified Data Analytics / Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Scientist Associate

•AWS Certified Solutions Architect / Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect
