Lead Product Designer (UX/UI)

Position Summary

Join On Air's dynamic team in Baarn, The Netherlands, as a design leader specializing in user experience, user interface design, and cross-platform streaming applications. We are seeking an experienced professional who thrives at the intersection of design, technology, and entertainment - and who is excited to take an AI-first approach to UX design.

As a key contributor, you’ll lead the development of a cohesive design vision across our Web, Mobile, and TV Apps - establishing and managing a scalable design system that reflects our brand identity and supports product consistency at scale. You'll shape user journeys from start to finish, creating intuitive, accessible interfaces based on real user insights. From concept to delivery, your process will be data-informed, user-tested, and validated in the field.

You’ll be expected to embrace and actively use AI tools - such as Figma AI, ChatGPT, Galileo AI, and others - to streamline prototyping, automate repetitive design tasks, and enhance ideation and iteration. As On Air expands its use of AI across the platform, this role plays a crucial part in applying those tools within the design workflow to accelerate delivery and improve quality.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem-solver who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, juggling multiple projects, and collaborating closely with development and product. You should be equally comfortable setting high-level design direction and producing polished UI - while also writing developer-ready stories in Jira and participating fully in sprint planning.

Please note that for this position:

• We are unable to offer Visa Sponsorship, and candidates must already be residing in the Netherlands.
• This is a full-time, in-office position in Baarn, requiring presence five days per week.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end design process across all On Air platforms - Web, Mobile, and TV - from discovery through to delivery.
• Define and lead user journey mapping, information architecture, wireframes, and AI-assisted prototypes that support usability testing, developer documentation, and idea communication across the company.
• Build and maintain a scalable design system and visual style guide to ensure brand and UX consistency across all platforms.
• Use AI-first prototyping tools and ideation workflows to rapidly test and evolve concepts.
• Collaborate closely with the Product Owner to write clear, developer-ready user stories in Jira, including user goals and acceptance criteria.
• Maintain clear and structured documentation in Confluence to support alignment across development and QA.
• Champion accessibility, usability, and a design culture that centers real user needs.
• Conduct user research and usability testing to validate concepts and make informed design decisions.
• Present design work and UX strategy to stakeholders and cross-functional teams with clarity and confidence.
• Participate in sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives to ensure alignment across design and development.
• Stay ahead of AI advancements in UX/UI, continuously evaluating and applying emerging tools that enhance your workflow and creative output.
• Take ownership of growing the design function - with the opportunity to build and scale a team as the company evolves.

Skills and experience

• 6+ years of experience designing digital products, preferably in B2C or streaming/media.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating UX thinking, visual polish, and multi-platform product experience.
• Hands-on experience building and scaling design systems and visual style guides.
• Mastery of Figma, prototyping tools like Framer, Galileo AI, and documentation tools like Zeroheight.
• Comfortable using AI-powered design assistants (e.g., Figma AI, ChatGPT, Magician, Relume) in real-world workflows.
• An expert in implementing and leveraging user analytics tools to gather insights and continuously improve the user experience.
• Experience with Atlassian tools, including Jira and Confluence.
• Proven ability to break down complex designs into developer-ready tickets aligned with sprint planning.
• Basic understanding of HTML/CSS/JavaScript and component-based frameworks like React.
• Strong communication and storytelling skills - especially when presenting and defending design decisions.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with cross-functional teams.
• Bonus: Experience designing for connected TV, media streaming platforms, or AI-driven products.
