Introduction

We are seeking a Process Metallurgist/Process Design Engineer to join our Smelting Business Line in Espoo. This position is for someone who wishes to pursue a deep technical specialist role in their career and also develop skills in areas outside of core competency. In this position, you will act as a process specialist in the area of smelting in our Smelting team, specializing especially in copper smelting. You will report to the Technology Director, Flash Smelting.

This position is mainly located in Espoo, but we are happy to offer flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options. The ability to travel occasionally to customer sites internationally is needed.

In Espoo, we design and deliver modern plants for extractive industry-related primary and secondary smelters. This position is open within the field of Process Metallurgy in our Smelting business line. The members of our team are located mainly in Espoo.

What You Do


  • Act as a process specialist in the area of smelting in our Smelting team
  • Carry out process design calculations
  • Provide support in preparing proposals for smelter sales
  • Carry out multilevel pre-studies, feasibility studies etc. for customers worldwide
  • Prepare process documentation in the Basic Engineering/Detail Engineering projects
  • Create materials for technical training of the smelter equipment and process, and participate in giving training both in the back office and at customer sites
  • Occasionally participate in cold and hot commissioning at customer sites typically as part of a team
  • Provide technology support to sales and services and customer support for smelter process and equipment


Who You Are


  • You have a Process Engineering degree (M.Sc or higher) in Metallurgy/Smelting paired with a good understanding of physical/chemical thermodynamics
  • You have already experience in the metals processing field, either in academia or in operations
  • Earlier experience with HSC Sim is seen as an asset
  • You can efficiently create technical material in written form
  • You are fluent in written and verbal English, other language skills are seen as an asset
  • You possess the skill to effectively and persuasively communicate your achievements and results
  • You can work independently, but also enjoy working as a part of a team
  • Open mind, flexibility and good initiative
  • Good interpersonal skills to work also at customer sites in a multinational environment
  • You can solve problems and manage multiple assignments, priorities and deadlines
