Senior System Engineer

Odeabank is seeking a highly experienced Senior System Engineer to join our Infrastructure & Operations team. This role requires deep expertise in VMware virtualization, datacenter operations, and enterprise-level IT infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for building, managing, and optimizing critical systems to support scalable, secure, and high-availability services.

Key Responsibilities:

🖥️ Virtualization and Infrastructure Management:

• Design, deploy, and maintain VMware vSphere/ESXi environments
• Manage full lifecycle of virtual machines: provisioning, cloning, performance tuning, and capacity planning
• Implement and maintain high-availability (HA), Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS), and disaster recovery configurations

🏢 Datacenter Operations:

• Oversee daily operations of physical and virtual servers within the datacenter
• Conduct hardware provisioning, health monitoring, and ensure operational continuity
• Develop and maintain robust backup, replication, and disaster recovery strategies

📊 System Monitoring and Performance Optimization:

• Monitor system performance, analyze bottlenecks, and apply optimization strategies
• Utilize monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Grafana to ensure system stability and availability

⚙️ System Administration (Windows & Linux):

• Manage and maintain Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Linux-based systems (such as RHEL, Ubuntu)
• Experience with Active Directory, Exchange, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and File Services
• Perform OS-level tuning, security hardening, and system upgrades across platforms

🤖 Automation and Scripting:

• Experience with Ansible for configuration management and infrastructure automation is a big plus
• Automate operational tasks using PowerShell (mandatory), Python, or other scripting tools
• Develop scripts and scheduled tasks for maintenance, monitoring, and deployment

🤝 Vendor & Case Management:

• Coordinate with external vendors and service providers for infrastructure-related services and support
• Manage support contracts, monitor SLA compliance, and evaluate vendor performance
• Own end-to-end case management processes: create, track, escalate, and resolve support tickets and incidents with vendors
• Act as a primary technical contact for third-party solutions and ensure timely issue resolution

🗂️ Asset and License Management:

• Maintain accurate inventory of hardware and software assets across environments
• Monitor software license usage, renewals, and compliance with vendor agreements
• Collaborate with procurement and compliance teams to ensure cost-effective license management and audit readiness

📁 Documentation and Compliance:

• Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and infrastructure components
• Ensure systems are compliant with security standards, internal policies, and audit requirements

Required Qualifications:

🎓 Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
• Minimum 7 years of experience in system engineering, with a strong focus on VMware and enterprise infrastructure

💼 Technical Expertise:

• Advanced knowledge of VMware virtualization technologies (vSphere, ESXi)
• Proficiency in both Windows Server and Linux-based system administration
• Hands-on experience with Ansible and PowerShell scripting (required)
• Familiarity with containers (e.g., Docker) and networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS)
• Experience with system monitoring and endpoint management tools

Preferred Qualifications:

• VMware certifications (e.g., VCP)
• Experience in the banking or finance sector is a strong advantage
• Knowledge of disaster recovery planning, capacity planning, and DevOps practices
• Experience with Ansible is a big plus
