Senior Software Engineer, Android, Play Store

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.

Play Beyond Mobile team brings Play Store and the apps ecosystem to any Android device which is not a mobile phone. This includes Chromebooks, tablets, AndroidTV, Android XR, Android AutomotiveOS, and WearOS. Not only are we among the first Googlers to get access to the latest upcoming hardware, we also have a phenomenal opportunity to be some of the first engineers to develop on these platforms, work closely with their respective framework teams, and play a major role in shaping these platforms and their ecosystems. Our team in Bengaluru will be focused on bringing a premium store experience and ecosystem to the WearOS platform.Android is Google’s open-source mobile operating system powering more than 3 billion devices worldwide. Responsibilities

• Build out capabilities needed for WearOS’s unique ecosystem needs, including associated cross form factor features on phones.
• Deliver a premium, next-gen app storefront for WearOS.
• Develop reliable code in Kotlin and Java, ensuring it's easy to maintain and test.
• Collaborate with teams to deliver high-quality projects on schedule.
• Apply Google's Android engineering practices and address technical debt to enhance the app's scalability and maintainability.
