ML Engineer for EU-funded research and innovation projects

Who We’re Looking For

We are seeking an ML Engineer to build and deploy AI-powered solutions for applications (including Digital Twins) in the transport and energy domains. You will work closely with AI/Cloud solution architects, data scientists, and end users to ensure AI models are effectively implemented, optimised for performance, and integrated in Cloud-based infrastructures.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, adapt, optimise, and deploy AI models for various applications.
  • Build and integrate experimental modules or algorithms to test their feasibility and validate theoretical models. 
  • Work closely with data scientists and researchers to translate research concepts and models into robust, efficient, and scalable AI applications.
  • Build AI-powered APIs and integrate them into scalable solutions.
  • Integrate AI models with Digital Twin platforms.


Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Master's degree and/or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, with proven experience (5+ years) in developing and deploying AI/ML models in real-world applications.
  • Track record in the development of AI-powered applications for energy, transport, or automated green ship systems.
  • Strong foundation in a wide range of AI models (for example, time-series analysis and forecasting, reinforcement learning) and optimisation algorithms.
  • Strong programming skills (e.g. Python, NodeJS).
  • Experience with AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn), data pipelines and best practices/tools (MLOps).
  • Preferable experience with knowledge graph/graph database (Neo4j).
  • Proficiency in cloud-based AI model deployment (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Advantageous, proven track record in research and innovation excellence and bid writing.


Additional Information

  • This is a remote position with occasional travel within the EU.
  • Candidates must be based in an EU country, preferably already located in Belgium.
  • Applicants must have the legal right to work in the EU; visa sponsorship is not available.
