The Department of Mathematics (DMATH) of the University of Luxembourg has an opening for a Postdoctoral researcher in machine learning position to start in September 2025. The researcher will be under the guidance of Prof. Ivan Nourdin.
Your role
- Conduct research in machine learning, deep learning, and probabilistic modeling, with a focus on real-world applications
- Disseminate research findings at international conferences and through high-quality publications
- Contribute to teaching activities with up to 2-4 hours of lectures or tutorials per week
- Actively support the organization in research group activities led by Prof. Ivan Nourdin, as well as contribute to the broader initiatives within the Department of Mathematics (DMATH)
Your profile
- PhD (awarded within the last 5 years) of high quality, ideally in machine learning (in the broad sense), complemented by a strong mathematical foundation in probability and/or statistics
- Research experience in at least one of the following topics: deep learning, reinforcement learning, probabilistic modeling, statistical learning, neural networks, or other related fields
- Interest in interdisciplinary work is an asset
- Experience in programming languages such as Python or R
- Autonomous worker with strong organizational and analytical skills
- Very good written and oral communication skills in English
- Ability to integrate into a team and collaborate effectively with its members
