Data Scientist - Retail Trading

What is the role about?

We are expanding our Data & Analytics team at Bitvavo and therefore we are on the lookout for a Data Scientist to join our team. This role contributes to Bitvavo’s analytics culture through data products and services, and is specifically focussed on helping the Retail trading Product domain build a better consumer trading experience.

As a Data Scientist working with the Retail trading team you’ll be analyzing existing and future features for Retail traders. You drive the improvement of our Product through experimentation and optimization (price setting, fee structures, asset offering). In order to succeed you need to cooperate with Product Managers, Business Controllers and other Data Analysts and Scientists.

Responsibilities

This role involves having a deep understanding of consumer trading products, how an order book works and what margin trading involves comes natural to you. There is a lot of freedom to bring your expertise and ideas into practice. You will be responsible, amongst other things, for the following:

• Analyze data and derive actionable insights to solve business challenges and discover opportunities
• Help Product Managers design, set, perform, and analyze experiments using statistical models
• Develop strategies and predictive models that leverage data to optimize user-facing features
• Collaborate with the data engineering team to enhance data sets and pipelines
  
  

How will you be successful?

• 2+ years of experience in a similar role
• An academic degree in a STEM related area: e.g. Mathematics, Computer Science, Econometrics, Business Analytics or similar
• Experience in performing predictive modeling and machine learning using programming languages (SQL, Python), BI tools (like Looker, Tableau, or PowerBI) and libraries like sklearn/tensorflow/keras
• End-to-end understanding of database, data warehouse development, and data transformation tools
• Eagerness to work in a fast-paced industry and company that grows in a rapid tempo
• Ability to communicate technical results to non-technical stakeholders
• Interest in the consumer trading and crypto space
